Earlier this summer I was invited to the friends and family opening of the new 5Church location in Buckhead. I was beyond excited because 5Church in Midtown has always been a great spot. I first met Ayman, the owner, in 2019 when I went to 5Church Midtown for the first time. They had the best steak salad I’d ever had and immediately became a staple. Let me tell you, this did NOT disappoint.

*THIS EXPERIENCE WAS GIFTED BY 5CHURCH BUCKHEAD

My first time at 5Church in Midtown I had Waygu fried rice and the best steak salad I’ve ever had in my entire life. Since then, I was hooked. To this day I’m still sad that salad isn’t on the menu, but I know it’s to make room for even more delicious dishes. That’s why I knew when the Buckhead location opened up, I had to go. Located right by Lenox Mall is 5CHURCH BUCKHEAD. I brought my friend with me and we had such a great time. It was great seeing old friends, making new friends, and of course trying out some awesome food. We did not hold back with our order so I’ll just jump right in to our experience.

Ayman reached out to me and asked me to come to the opening and never in a million years would I pass it up. 5Church has always been a favorite from their (sadly discontinued) steak salad to their amazing brunch in Midtown. It was also a perfect excuse to get all dolled up and enjoy a luxurious dining experience. Thank you so much to Ayman and everyone at 5Church Buckhead for a great experience as well as allowing me to have some amazing food.

When you walk in, you’re greeted by a nice size bar and a look into their huge dining room. The main attraction though, is their absolutely beautiful sunroom patio. This is the perfect place for brunch with the girls, a nice celebration, or if you’re like me and my friends, just a nice dinner. The flowers add such an amazing touch and I love it. I’m not a huge flower girl (we’ll ignore the fact that I have them tattooed) but Ayman did it perfectly. The ambiance here is just flawless.

THE DRINKS

We grabbed a drink at the bar until our table was ready and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Something about craft cocktails just always sets the mood for me. I love being able to try new cocktails that are handcrafted with creativity and 5Church had just the thing. My friend opted for wine, but I definitely went for the Viper made with whiskey instead of tequila. The cayenne pepper in the cocktail really sets it off and brings all the flavors together. I’m still trying to figure out how to navigate the wine world and their extensive list that makes it that much easier to put my palate to the test. The Holy Water and the Twisted Tree are also great if you like whiskey and bourbon.

THE FOOd

Moving right on to food, we started with the grilled octopus and a good charred caesar. Charred salads have been a thing for a while at a lot of the restaurants I go to but 5Church’s with the fresh anchovy gives my favorite from Sotto Sotto a run for its money. The octopus had such a great flavor and while I’m not sure if it’s still on the menu, I would absolutely order this again. It was just enough to get our appetite ready. I kind of wish we had gotten the bone marrow but I’m still good with what we did order. Don’t worry, you know I’ve already been back for the bone marrow and it was so good!

Onto our main dishes, the salmon and the risotto. I’ve been obsessed with risotto ever since I started watching Hell’s Kitchen and 5Church having a lobster risotto just seemed like a match made in heaven. It was rich, it was creamy, and the lobster was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the salmon and it came over a bed of rice with some broccolini. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the broccolini had so much flavor. For our sides, we went basic: mac and cheese and garlic whipped potatoes. Both were absolutely delightful.

To finish off our night with something sweet, we ordered the toasted coconut mousse and the banana crème brûlée. You guys know I’m not big on sweets but holy, were these desserts amazing. I love a good crème brûlée from time to time and this one did not disappoint. All in all this experience was a perfect summer vibe and I can’t thank 5Church Buckhead enough for inviting me to their opening. It was absolutely fantastic.
