For me the beginning of the week is Sunday so every Sunday I start off my week and wash away the weekend with some self care time. I take a long soak, wash my hair, do an in depth skin care routine, and overall just have a ‘me’ day. I’ll do a more detailed post on all of this later, but I really wanted to focus on each step so skincare is first. I added in this charcoal mask about a year or so and I’ve noticed a MASSIVE change in my skin.
Doing a charcoal treatment of any has many benefits for your skin. I wanted to talk about Context Skin’s White Charcoal Detox Mask* because I’ve seen SUCH a difference in my skin since I’ve started using it. It’s a deep cleansing mask and it works to eliminate toxins and impurities. For me, this is an essential part of my Self-Care Sunday routine because weekends are when I usually go out, break my diet, and go from water to whiskey or soda. This means my skin usually freaks out a little bit and breakouts ensue.

Since it contains Binchotan white charcoal powder (a Japanese charcoal) which draws out dirt and other debris that may be clogging your pores as well as sodium bicarbonate to help prevent problem-causing bacteria, absorb excess oil as well as decongests pores, you’ll notice a difference in how smooth and glowy your skin is after using it. Lastly, the glycerin in the mask provides hydration and enhances moisture retention to fight against dry skin. Dry skin has been a problem for me in my t-zone for years. Now, I don’t have that problem anymore.
Every Sunday, this is what starts me off on my self-care Sunday routine. My skin is very volatile and the slightest bit of change usually wreaks a lot of havoc for me. Doing this mask once a week for 7-10 minutes after washing your face and following it up with your usual skincare routine will completely recharge your skin for everything you have going on during the week. I always notice a difference when I skip this step because something just feels off.
